The Society for Basic Urologic Research (SBUR) is the premier urologic research society in the United States.  Our membership of over 400 scientists, physicians, and physician scientists have basic and clinical research programs in the fields of  biochemistry, bioengineering, bioinformatics, cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, epidemiology, genetics, immunology, impotence, inflammation, incontinence, neurology, oncology (prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, testicular cancer), pathology, pharmacology, prostatitis, radiation oncology, reproductive biology, urinary tract infections, and urology.   SBUR members serve on a wide variety of advisory panels, advocacy committees, study sections, and editorial boards. The society also partners with national and international urologic research societies including the AUA, SUO, and EUA.  

The SBUR Annual Meeting is the leading basic and translational urologic meeting of the year.  Held each year in November, this three-day meeting offers cutting-edge research presentations from renowned scientists, two evening poster presentations, trainee and young investigator presentations, panel discussions, group lunches, social events, awards ceremonies, and trainee-focused career programs.  The meeting promotes networking and collaboration,  highlights new technologies and areas of research, as well as funding opportunities and federal programs.

In 2019, SBUR had 286 people attend the annual meeting in-person in New Orleans, LA and had over 175 posters being presented in the poster sessions. Due to the pandemic, in 2020 SBUR pivoted to a virtual meeting with more than 280 attendees for the virtual 2020 annual meeting! SBUR also had around 100 abstract and poster submissions that were displayed online during the event.
